Just something about yarns

Dear readers, some net forums make us knitters wonder, what is luxury yarn and what is ordinary yarn. Pure wool (if I buy it from a store) and wool blend are "ordinary" yarns in my eyes. In this context wool blend means something like 75 % wool, 25 % polyamide. That kind of yarn is OK for...let's say mittens and scarves and sweaters.
If the yarn has acrylic in it, the yarn is definitely ordinary yarn. I don't use such yarn to knit anything for myself. My skin becomes very itchy and bleeds, if I wear something made of acrylic. Or if I don't become itchy, it makes me feel very hot. So acrylic yarn is very, very ordinary yarn in my world.
There are times when 100 % wool yarn is ordinary yarn. But if I have made the said 100 % wool yarn myself from roven, that is luxury yarn for me, because the roven has gone through my wheel and I've taken care of spinning myself. That kind of yarn needs special home and special owner, who is knitworthy, as they say.
When the yarn I have bought from a store has silk in it, that yarn is luxury yarn. That means I may have difficulties to decide the future of such a yarn. The same is true if I get yarn someone has hand - dyed. I may wait for the right time and the right person to dare to knit such yarn.
If the yarn has been made in Peru and has merino wool in it, it is definitely luxury yarn in my eyes. I may use it to knit some squares for a blanket of some little prince or princess. Not actual prince or princess, of course. The actual princes and princesses' parents, like in Great Britain, would not accept gifts from someone like me they've never met.

Some knitting

Dear readers, here I sit again. I spun some yarn this summer. Now I realized the yarn refuses to become plied, so I must leave the plying plan and just knit the single together with some other yarn. It seems the single behaves nicely when you knit it. Some little boy may get a little cardigan soon. I don't know where the said boy is. I do not know if someone is expecting him. I don't know if he has been born already. But I just know I like to knit that little "vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce" cardigan.

Just a picture of a sweater

Dear readers,I have started the actual funeral sweater. My trustworthy scanner seems to be the only way I can show you the pictures. It's better than camera ever, not to forget my skills are miserable.

About my knitting

Dear readers, here I sit again. The funeral sweater project has made some progress. The test version 2 is ready. But! But but but! A friend of mine must check, if the front & the back are equal in length. If not, I must re - knit the front and mark the necessary changes to the pattern as well.
If the length is OK, she and I try to join the sweater as complete and see, if it fits me well. If the answer is yes, that means I have found The Pattern and I can start knitting the actual funeral sweater. If not, I may have to start all over again. That is, to find yet another pattern, test knit, check the length etc. Oh well, at least I'm knitting.
I also have some happier knitting to do. This blanket you see in the picture, it will travel to America. That much I can tell you, but I can't share the name or location of the new owner. This is a surprise, you see, and I want it to stay that way.

About printing and knitting

Dear readers, here I sit again as usual. Some of you may know I lost a friend in summer 2015. I am glad her funeral was during a summer too. She passed away in June and we said the final farewell in July. But I know death doesn't always come in summer. It may come any time, including winter. And that's what I have been pondering recently.
I have friends, who are old. One of them may be the next one to go. I want to be ready, when the time comes. That is why I have pondered here and there and everywhere about knitting a funeral sweater for myself.
I am Light Spring, so black is not on my list, but cocoa brown is. It is one of my neutrals. I think cocoa brown is neutral enough to wear during a funeral. I have the yarn. I am only missing the pattern.
How on earth? Well, I haven't chosen the pattern yet.
How can that be?
I haven't found the right pattern yet. I am still searching. I hope this one pattern I have already re - written and printed for myself, could be the one. I don't know, if it really is the one. The pattern I tried before this didn't fit my plans. I hope this one does.
But before I can knit the actual funeral sweater of the actual yarn I have, I need to make a test version. The meaning of the test version is to find out if this pattern is the one and the kind of that fits. I sure hope this is the one, even the increases and decreases make it swallow a lot of time and yarn. But knitting the test version is the only way to find out, if this pattern is the one I can wear during a funeral.

Secret knitting keeps going

Dear readers,I wish I could even whisper you what I have on my needles, but believe me, it's better that I stay silent. I can tell you only this: they are surprises. One of them is such a surprise I do not even know where it goes. I want to get it done, though.

Banana ice cream must wait a little bit longer

Dear readers, I got something done, yes, but it's not what I told you earlier. This project is a scarf. It is an ice cream scarf, but it's not banana ice cream with whipped cream. Instead it is pear - raspberry - blueberry - ice cream.
How does it look like?
Here's the answer.
